Introduction

This year's very popular eleventh annual Infectious Disease Update will cover many hot and clinically relevant topics in the ever evolving field of Infectious Diseases. Our organizing committee has brought together a group of well known speakers who have excellent teaching and presentation skills.

The topics covered will be clinically orientated in order to bring you up to date on the most current developments and recent advances in a wide number of issues that you may encounter in your daily practice.

Objectives

  • To update yourself on the latest epidemiology of current and emerging viral and bacterial infections of international and local significance.
  • To discuss and resolve some of your infectious diseases related problem cases with experts and colleagues during Q & A sessions.
  • To update your knowledge on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in hospital, office and community.
  • To review what diagnostic tests are helpful in the area of infectious diseases.
  • To review antibiotic resistant organisms, how and when to treat.
  • To hear the latest information on vaccines, traveler health, malaria, and STI's in our community and international settings.
  • To learn how to better prepare yourself or others for health care abroad.
  • To increase your awareness of special at risk groups in relation to travel medicine.

Credits

This program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for up to 12 Mainpro M1 credits.

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. (12 hours). This program has been reviewed and approved by UBC Division of Continuing Professional Development and Knowledge Translation. 12 conference hours can be used towards the RNABC Continuing Competence Requirements.
